Worthy Sir Knights and Ladies All, Christmas Blessings and New Year’s Greetings to all.. Thank you to all the Sir Knights who attended the November Business Meeting when we were visited by our new District Master Gene Suchyta. Thank you also to all who attended the November Memorial Mass and the Christmas Party at the Polish Century Club on December 11 along with St Nicholas Council. We had almost 50 people attended and the food and fellowship was enjoyable and memorable. A special thank you to the St Nicholas Council Building Corps for their generous donation. Overall, both Blessed Virgin Mary and St Nicholas Council raised $900 for charities ($450 for each) through the raffles and 50/50 drawing. This was a new venue for us and the Polish Century Club was such a success, we have already booked it for next year.
Several event dates have now been announced for 2023.
· The Spring 2023 Fourth Degree Exemplification will be at St. John Neumann on March 25, 2022 located at 44800 Warren Rd, Canton, MI 48187. Since this is also the Feast of the Annunciation, there will be a Mass in the morning before the event.
· The Fall 2023 Fourth Degree Exemplification will be on the East Side probably somewhere north of St Anastasia (which worked out great as a location in Fall 2022).
· The District Master is currently working on the spring (probably more like winter) district meeting location. This will be in February 2023, very likely February 18. (The State Tribute Banquet is February 25, and he is aware of activities in March on most weekends.) While this may seem early, it will occur before Lent, Easter, the exemplification and golf season.
· The Faithful Navigators, and their assemblies responded to District Master’s email about a possible provincial meeting in the fall of 2023. These were summarized and sent those on to Vice Supreme Master Ed Ponder just after Thanksgiving 2022. After the VSM gets feedback from the other six district masters, any Fall 2023 Province Meeting Plans will be announced.
· On a local level, I encourage you to join our affiliate Council# 6865 Pope John Paul I Saturday January 14, 2023 at St Blase Church located at 12151 15 Mile Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48312 after the 4 pm mass (starts at 5:30 pm) for their Chef Prepared Wild Game Dinner. Tickets are $35 each for adults and $10 for Age 16 and under. There will be plenty of prizes to bid for in their tin can raffle and 50/50 raffle. If you have not attended, it is always memorable in a good way. Call (586) 268-2244 for tickets.
